Keno is a lottery-style game in which players choose up to ten numbers as their selections within a given range. These are usually referred to as Spots, so a Spot 10 entry means a selection of ten numbers, a Spot 9 entry has a selection of nine numbers, and so on. When a draw takes place, a specified quantity of numbers is drawn from the same range. The goal of the game is for players to match as many of their selections as possible, with the top prize going to those who select the maximum numbers allowed and succeed in matching all of them.

The top prize for the game is worth a guaranteed minimum of AU$1 million, but it can quickly increase in value as the prize fund from one draw will be added to the next one if there is no Spot 10 player who matches all of their selections. If more than one player matches 10 out of 10, the pool is divided equally between the winning players.

South Australian Keno draws take place every three and a half minutes. Players can choose to enter their chosen numbers for multiple draws in advance, saving time for those who are inclined to play regularly. Players who take part in the South Australian Keno game can also choose to play an associated Keno Coin Toss game. This is a side bet that the 20 numbers drawn will be mostly Heads (in the range 1 to 40) mostly Tails (in the range 41 to 80) or Even (10 numbers Heads and 10 numbers Tails). A correct bet on Heads or Tails (the odds of which are 1 in 2.5) doubles the stake of the player and a correct bet on Evens (odds of 1 in 5) quadruples their stake.
